OUR MISSION
To provide rest, recreation, and rehabilitation for active duty, veterans, disabled veterans, and retired military personnel through fly fishing related activities.
ABOUT US
Platte Rivers Veterans Fly Fishing was founded in 2011 and has been growing ever since, touching the lives of veterans and promoting the healing powers of water. Platte Rivers Veterans Fly Fishing is a register 501(c)(3) non-profit organization incorporated in the State of Wyoming and the State of Colorado. Our Board manages programs in Cheyenne, and Laramie, Wyoming; as well as Loveland, Greeley and Fort Collins, Colorado.
Platte Rivers Veterans Fly Fishing provides basic fly fishing, fly casting, fly tying and rod building classes for veterans. Participants are from all walks of life, all fishing abilities, and from all branches of the military. Fly fishing gear, fly tying equipment, and materials for rod building are provided at no cost to veterans. Fishing trips, both one day and multi-day, are also provided free of charge to veterans.
Platte Rivers Veterans Fly Fishing is unique in that our volunteers are teaching classes on an on-going, long term basis. It is much more than a one day fishing trip. For many participants, particularly disabled veterans, the socialization and camaraderie of the classes are just as important as the fishing outings, and provide a social and skills based activity.
