Dates: August 28 – 30, 2023
Location: Walden, CO. Elevation: 8,100 feet.
Lodging: 3 days 2 over nights. We will be lodging at the Chedsey Hotel/Lodge which sleeps 8 people. Evening meals will be done at the River Rock Cafe in Walden. Breakfast 1st morning at the lodge of breakfast stuff. Coffee, juice, cereal breakfast burritos and fruit etc. Daily lunch will be eaten on the tailgate at the water. Breakfast at the River Rock Cafe the last morning of the trip.
Fishing: You will need a Colorado fishing license and we will get that for you if needed. We will be fishing the 3 Delaney Buttes lakes and possibly Cowdery lake. You will need for the trip waders, boots, float tube, flippers, PDF required, fly rods and flies. Hat, rain jacket, sunglasses, sunblock and mosquito repellent. Any medication you need.
Wading from shore is okay too or boat if you have one.
Flies: Wooly buggers, still water nymphs, damsels nymphs, pheasant tails, prince nymphs, renegades, streamers, and chromatids too for maybe some evening fishing. According to the folks at North Park Anglers, “The lakes have prolific damselfly, Callibaetis, and chironomid hatches. When no hatch is present, anglers will find fish nymphing weed beds and drop offs.”
